The first film made for the people – BY THE PEOPLE

PEOPLE

SUBJECTS:

Sara Shives

Sara Shives is a freelance director and script supervisor.  She is based in NYC but has worked around the US and internationally as a director for Blue Man Group as well as many other NY-based performance groups.  She has been script supervising for about a year and has many short films and commercials under her belt, and did her first feature last August.  Sara also works in the tech department for the Tribeca Film Festival and is currently the Venue Manager for the special events venue Sundance House at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.  Sara encourages everyone to be aware of our political and social environment and to get active in your community!

Eric Homsher

Eric has been a firefighter with the LAFD for over ten years.  His lust for life and adventurous spirit led him to the Obama inauguration to “be a part of the greatest sociological event in our country’s history.” An avid Guitar Hero and sports nut, Eric loves spending time with his son Raymond either rocking out or catching a Raiders game.

Ryan Bowen

Ryan Bowen is a photographer and social justice advocate from Portland, OR. In 2008 and early 2009, he rode his bicycle from Los Angeles to the presidential inauguration in Washington D.C. and documented the experience on www.bikingforobama.com

Shayla Dopp

The photography of Shayla Michelle Dopp gives us an intimate look into the heart of her subjects. Each photograph is an encounter with the world on the other side of the lens…as opposed to using her camera as a boundary; a wall to hide behind, giving her room to find objectivity. Shayla absorbs her ‘muses’ into herself, much as the light emanating from the focal point imprints on the negative. By doing so, she allows us to share in the human aspect of the relationship between photographer and subject.  See her Inauguration photography and leave a message to our president at http://dearobamaiwanttosay.blogspot.com

Diana Beato

Diana Beato was born and raised in New York City.  Diana was traditionally a visual designer for over 15 years and currently works for the NYPD and is also an active US Air Force Reservist.  Diana enjoys exploring her artistic side through different mediums such as performance art, video, mixed media traditional art and photography.  www.beato.tv
